Sekihoku Pass

Temperature: 0 degrees Celsius at the Sekihoku Pass.

We were in the middle of June. It’s very rare to have snow in this period of the year. The road was partially snow covered the precedent day. However, most of the snow was gone and only a small amount of snow was left to the side of the road. We had more snow at the Kitami Pass. However, the Kitami Pass was closed to the traffic due to snow out of season. He rode on the snow left. The snow was very humid. He climbed from the Kamikawa side and descended to the Kitami side. He climbed again from the Kitami side and he met crew of TV stations at the summit. They were there to report the snow out of season. They interviewed him for a halt hour. During the interview, the snow melted further. So he had to ride on asphalt for the descent to the Kamikawa side. His interview was broadcast all over Japan.
